Making a Difference to Our Profession

Just one of Dr. Sullivan’s passions is helping his profession, and he is proud to be recognized as both a teacher and a leader in Cosmetic Dentistry. As an international lecturer on the latest advances in cosmetic dentistry and practice enhancement, he has spoken to dental organizations Throughout the United States and Canada.

Many weekends find him helping other dentists learn the nuances of what it takes to create a beautiful smile by presenting lectures nationwide on esthetic dentistry. “It’s great to help other dentists see what cosmetic dentistry can truly be for their patients,” he says, “and it’s even greater to see the change cosmetic dentistry can make in patient’s lives. For me, a beautiful smile is about reflecting the person underneath. ”

While a member since 1998, Dr. Sullivan’s passion for his profession has led him to an even higher level of service; for many years he has served as a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD) Board of Directors. He is proud to now act as the Co-Chairman for the AACD’s annual meeting in 2008 to be held in New Orleans. “The AACD is an incredible organization that is changing the way cosmetic dentistry is practiced. I’m proud to be a member, and am privileged that the membership allows me to help shape their future,” Dr. Sullivan said.

In addition to teaching and leading his peers, Dr. Sullivan is constantly perfecting his own skills, learning and striving for excellence. He is currently an Accredited member of the AACD, which means he has earned a level of accreditation held by less than three hundred dentists worldwide. The AACD is the world’s largest dental organization dedicated to Cosmetic Dentistry, and is recognized for having the profession’s most stringent accreditation for cosmetic dentistry. It encourages the highest standards of ethical conduct and responsible patient care among cosmetic dentists.

Testament to the membership’s trust in Dr. Sullivan is that the AACD membership has invited him to participate as a speaker at the annual conferences on many occasions, teaching what he knows so well. Over the years, he has won multiple awards for the smiles he has created for local residents. Most recently, Dr. Sullivan was awarded multiple Gold Medals for cosmetic treatment of local residents in their annual Smile Gallery Competition. The Smile Competitions are among the most competitive peer-reviewed competitions in cosmetic dentistry, where dentists from all over the world submit their best treatment each year. Dr. Sullivan’s winning cases were a few of the Gold Medals awarded out of hundreds of cases submitted by the world’s top cosmetic dentists.
